The presence of operational and protective earthing in an electrical installation is essential for the operation of the loads and the safety of the users respectively. In new buildings, the application of foundation earthing is mandatory according to K/YA FEK A50/12081, in which having a value of around 1 Ohm allows the lightning protection S.A.P., the telecommunications equipment and the operational earthing of the substation to be connected to a common equipotential busbar.
The earthing value varies depending on the quality characteristics of the subsoil, the humidity and the passage of time due to oxidation of the electrodes.
Measuring it for continuity and what its value is in Ohms is therefore necessary at least once a year.
